There are three types of coverage in a typical renters insurance policy that help safeguard you, your belongings, and your living arrangements in the event of a covered loss. Renters insurance won’t cover the actual building you live in — that is your landlord’s responsibility. Renters insurance can cover personal belongings damaged from a covered peril as well as additional living expenses if you are unable to live at your home while it’s being repaired because of a covered loss.
